MOVE THAT BUS!!!
This morning, surrounded by hundreds of volunteers, staff, families and the President of Give Kids the World Village, Pamela Landwirth, the new Memory Makers Building was unveiled for the first time since the two week renovation began. It was not just a little ceremony. Good Morning America crews, including co-anchor Josh Elliot, joined designer Ty Pennington (love him!) and chef Emeril Lagasse in the highly anticipated opening of the new building. For the past two weeks, non-stop, workers have been renovating and reconstructing villas and the Memory Makers building which will provide Give Kids the World Village with an incredible facelift.
In case you have not heard about this amazing organization, Give Kids the World Village, here’s a little primer.
Give Kids the World Village fulfills the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses from around the world by providing them with a cost-free vacation to Central Florida. Give Kids the World Village partners with other organizations that send children to them, for example Make a Wish Foundation. The families that come to the village are provided with beautiful accommodations, food, theme parks tickets, you name it! Even the characters come to visit! As if that was not enough, they have special events planned every night of the week.
Give Kids the World Village gives hope to families who are losing or have lost hope. I have two small children of my own and I know that what they do on a daily basis is so important and that is why I am so proud to partner with this great organization. I saw firsthand how important their work is to the families.
If you are interested in learning more about my experience at Give Kids the World, please check out my three part series on my last trip there and if you are interested in volunteering or donating, please visit Give Kids the World Village for more information on how to do so.
A big special thanks go to all of the people who have donated their funds, time, energy and to some of the companies like Wyndham Vacation Ownership and The Walt Disney Company who have so graciously given of their resources, both financially and with their Voluntears program to help make this makeover come to fruition.
