M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E… Rest In Peace Annette…

Today is a sad day in Disney history. Annette Funicello, an original Mouseketeer from the Mickey Mouse Club, has died at the age of 70, after suffering for years with Multiple Sclerosis. I used to watch reruns of the Mickey Mouse Club when I was younger, and I remember Annette.  I have such fond memories of her, maybe because I thought it was so cool that she was a girl who was front and center in the club.  As I got older, I loved her in the movies with Frankie Avalon like Beach Blanket Bingo and Disney movies, like The Monkey’s Uncle. I can hear that song in my head right now. I think the Mickey Mouse Club started my love for Disney.  It just shows you how much impact someone can be in the lives of many.  She was and will always be a Disney legend.

As the Alma Mater song said,

Now its time to say goodbye to all our company.

See you real soon. (in another place and time)

Why? Because we like you. (We will never forget you)

Thank you for making children happy all over the world. And when you see Mr. Disney, say thank you from us.
