It would appear it is!
On Tuesday, head of Disney, Bob Iger announced during a conference call which discussed third quarter earnings, that there would be a “significant Star Wars presence” coming to both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Theming is one of the things that Disney does best and they will be taking advantage of a brand that is widely loved and just waiting for something like this.
Iger said during the call that, “the likelihood of their success is greater” when they’re branded. “When we grow ‘Star Wars” presence, which we will do significantly, you will see better bets being made that will pay off for us than were made in the past.” This news comes as the eagerly anticipated new Star Wars film will hit theaters December 18, 2015. The plan is to announce and give us a look at the new attractions, sometimes next year. I am thinking it will lead up to the opening to the movie.
Iger was asked if Disney was trying to broker new deals with other franchise, but Iger quite matter of factly stated, “We don’t have to license from third parties,” he said. “We own them all.”
Stay tuned for updates on new developments. I know my entire family is very excited about this one, especially one little boy named Jedi!
