During a first quarter earnings call with shareholders yesterday, Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger announced that Star Wars Land will be making its debut in 2019.
Why is this such a big deal?
First of all, it’s Star Wars, which already makes it a big deal. Or at least, my family thinks it is. Secondly, it is the largest single-themed land expansion in the history of the Walt Disney World Resort.
What will make this a super cool land to visit?
Guests will be taken on a journey to a never before seen planet where they will encounter humanoids, droids, and the like. You know, what you would find if you actually stepped foot inside a Star Wars movie. Think of the Cantina scene with the all the creatures and you get the idea. Not only will you be immersed in that, you will have the opportunity to fly the most magnificent “space junk” ever created, the Millennium Falcon! And that is only the beginning.
There’s just one little thing to take note of… if any Star Wars fan catches you making the “live long and prosper” sign, you might be asking for a sneer or two.
