East Side

The East Side of Downtown Disney is where it all started. I started going to Disney before there ever was an East or West Side…in fact, I went before Pleasure Island even existed.  Even back then, I loved Downtown Disney. After spending time in the parks, it was nice to visit a place where I could just stroll around, shop, enjoy the scenery and enjoy wonderful food. Nothing about that experience has changed for me, except now I have so much more to enjoy!

The transportation system will take you to both areas, but I’ve made it a habit over the years to get dropped off at the East Side bus depot.  I used to just be able to walk off the bus and start shopping, but now that I have little ones, we have to stop at the water play area right when you get off the buses! I let them play for a bit, then we’re off to explore everything else. My kids have their favorite things as well. My daughter loves the carousel, my son loves the train. They also love the Lego store because they can play to their heart’s content. My favorite part of the East Side? For shopping, I LOVE The World of Disney store. Anything you are looking for Disney related is here! For food, Wolfgang Puck’s Express Cafe. What I love about this place is that it only counts as counter service, but the food is incredible and the portions are huge! I particularly like the Applewood Smoked Bacon Breakfast Pizza.
